Trama Narrativa
Wood and plant-fibre sculpture (cm 35 x 130).
2018
“Trama Narrativa” is an artist’s book that brings together the double meaning of the Italian word trama, as both a material weave and the construction of a narrative. Its pages are made from the natural fibres of the prickly pear plant (Opuntia ficus-indica).
Nature turns into writing, and writing becomes a living organism, rooting the narrative in matter itself. Matter and language interweave. Here, the weave/narrative is an emblem of a shared vital principle, the expression of a profound continuity between nature and culture.
The drying, exfoliation, and stitching of the plant emerge as temporal thresholds. What was once an organism becomes an archive, what once grew now holds traces. The narrative unfolds across layers of biological time.
