Noi per Voi
November 2023 — Hendrik Christian Andersen Museum
On the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, the Hendrik Christian Andersen Museum presented the second edition of the performance “Noi per Voi”. As part of the initiative, Carolina Lombardi led a guided talk-tour, during which she introduced “Embroidering Chaos”, the exhibition project presented in the museum’s galleries.
The project reconnects with a practice traditionally associated with women’s work, embroidery and weaving, to reactivate its symbolic and cultural meanings, often overlooked or forgotten. Thread, as it intertwines and generates weft and warp, becomes a metaphor for an interconnected vision of reality, in which every element is part of a wider structure. From this perspective, to weave means to participate in the life of the cosmos and to recompose the unity of the world through the plurality of its forms and places.
As a performative act intended to denounce femicides and senseless violence against women, Carolina Lombardi’s installations were switched off for several minutes.
